Aalsmeer (NL), January 13, 2025 – Copyright Power International, an independent Dutch music publishing company, is proud to announce the signing of “The Peasants” (original title: Chlopi), an acclaimed Polish film released in 2023. This strategic partnership strengthens Copyright Power International’s position within the European music industry and ensures comprehensive administrative coverage of the music rights.

In 2024, Sascha van Verseveld, General Manager of Copyright Power International, attended Soundtrack Zurich. There, she had a meeting with Hugh Welchman, known for the Oscar-nominated film Loving Vincent, to discuss the music rights of his film. This meeting led to a successful collaboration whereby Copyright Power International will now manage the music rights for “The Peasants” across Europe. This extensive coverage ensures that the film’s unique music is optimally protected and accurately represented in European countries.

About “The Peasants”

“The Peasants” is the latest work from the creators of Loving Vincent and the Oscar-winning studio BreakThru Films. It is the result of four years of work by over 100 painters who created tens of thousands of unique painted film frames. The film’s score was composed by the acclaimed L.U.C. (Łukasz Rostkowski), featuring nearly 100 musicians from Slavic countries. The score combines folk, trance, classical, and film music, representing an innovative and diverse musical landscape that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Slavic regions.

The original motion picture soundtrack has been streamed over 49 million times on Spotify, demonstrating the immense popularity and impact of the music. The close collaboration between Łukasz Rostkowski and the Rebel Babel Film Orchestra has resulted in a harmonious integration of music and visuals, making the music a crucial element in storytelling for “The Peasants.”

The Importance of Music Rights Administration

Managing music rights is highly valuable for protecting intellectual property, ensuring proper royalty payments, and facilitating licensing for various applications. By administering the music rights of “The Peasants” across Europe, Copyright Power International ensures that the composer and involved artists are fairly compensated and that the music is legally used in various media and events. The expectation that The Peasants Multimedia Concert, which took place on October 6, 2024, in Zurich, will be performed more frequently across Europe underscores the importance of effective administrative coverage of music rights.
