Copyright Power International is pleased to announce that the bill to strengthen authors’ contract law has been sent to the Dutch House of Representatives. NVPI has played a key role in developing this proposal, which aims to enhance creators’ rights and promote market self-regulation.

The bill amends the 2015 Authors’ Contract Law, making it easier to negotiate collective agreements without needing approval from the Minister of Education, Culture, and Science. It also presumes collectively negotiated fees to be fair, streamlining the process.

Highlights include collective remuneration for VOD and additional fair pay for session musicians in successful Dutch music productions. NVPI urges the House of Representatives for swift enactment, having also sent its own letter of support.
